Incense

For many years, every time I walked into a shop or a room with incense burning, I would immediately get a headache and feel awful. That was until years ago, when a friend of mine bought me a stick of incense and an incense holder.  I remember her telling me it was all natural so even if I didn’t usually like incense I would like this. I wasn’t sure at first, but as she had gone to the trouble I felt I should at least give it a try.

I ended up burning it one night and surprisingly got no headache, sickness or anything. I thought perhaps it was that particular fragrance that made it ok (I think from memory it was Honey Suckle). I found out that it was nothing to do with the scent but everything to do with them using natural ingredients in the production.

Most incense sticks have the fragrance rolled onto the stick with ‘glue!’ Chemicals/synthetics that are then set alight and poisoning the air you breath with these fumes. Twelve Tribes (for example, the ones I like) use only plant gums or natural ingredients, essential oils and some fragrant oils. My favourites are Frankincense, Myrrh and Palo Santo.
